February 7th, 2007 - LHI

Today I went out to the Admiralty Islands with Busty and a group of divers, including Bob and Robbie-Lee, a couple who come every year for three months. For the past few years they have shot some amazing video; however, this year they decided to take a break and just enjoy their dives without having to think about the technical aspects of video production.

We headed to “No Name Rock” dive site, a smaller islet just to the east of Roach Island. I dived with three others and we saw heaps of amazing corals, a fierce moray eel, some brown triggerfish, heaps of Moorish idols, and a speckled stingray hiding in a cave. Bob came up after the dive with something truly amazing: A dead giant triton shell. The shell is over a foot long and length and you could fit your entire hand into it. It was a massive find and will be added to the boatshed collection.

We picked up and dropped off from Ned’s beach and I headed back to clean up and get everything ready for the third dive of the afternoon. It got pretty hairy in the shed for a while during the transition, but in the end I pulled it off; it can sometimes get pretty intense trying to multi-task 50 different things at once!

I was pretty tired by the time the end of the day came, and unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to take a nap before heading off to Pandanus to wash dishes for four hours. Luckily, we were absolutely flat out and the night went by quickly. I read my book for an hour before nodding off into a deep sleep.
